A Mobile Co-Ordination Unit comprises of several specialised hardware for field personnel and a laptop or Mobile Data Terminal which functions as the Command Centre.
Before commencing operations, the Command Centre must be connected to the Internet (either by dial-up, broadband, Wi-Fi, GPRS or 3G) to download the map and application software. Once the map and application is running, tracking and communications services between field personnel and the Command Centre can be initiated.
Thus, a computerised command, control, communications and Intelligence (C4I) system can be set up almost anywhere in a few minutes.
